Johnson & Johnson Medical China Employee Volunteer Day

June 20, 2011 Johnson & Johnson Medical China Employee Volunteer Day

You Dao hosted 100 Johnson & Johnson Medical China employees and their partners to conduct safety training with over 200 migrant children at the Tong Meng Kindergarten and with 15 You Dao scholarship families at their homes.

Half of the Johnson & Johnson volunteers taught the children how to prevent fire and burn injuries through a program of short lecture, small group discussions, and roll-play. The classroom content was reinforced with the outdoor activities that included a “Stop-Drop-Roll” drill, obstacle course designed to escape smoke and giant safety puzzles.

The other half of the Johnson & Johnson volunteers conducted safety checks on You Dao family homes. They shared simple and practical safety solutions with the families and provided them with first aid kits.

It was a meaningful day of sharing and learning for the volunteers. Not only did they share their knowledge in safety and injury prevention, but they also gained insights into multiple adversities that migrants face through home visits. Many volunteers came up to Puisana Chau, You Dao Executive Director, for additional information about the You Dao Foundation and to inquire about future volunteer opportunities.
