Children with Chefs Hats

On 16th March 2014, a group of Italian ladies with their husbands and children came to our Qingpu center to teach the migrant children how to make modified Tiramisu. They brought along chef hats and aprons for the children to wear. The children were fascinated when Serena showed the children how cream could be whipped.  All the terms for biscuit, strawberry, chocolate were translated into Chinese and were nicely presented and taught by Maria.

The Italian children helped to distribute spoons and bowls and taught the migrant children how to mix the fruits and chocolate to their own taste. The children could hardly wait to try out their end products.  ‘Yum yum’ they all said.
The husbands helped to organize outdoor games while the other group was busy learning.  At the end, all the migrant children sang a ‘thank you’ song to the volunteers.  In return, the Italian children also happily sang a song to show their enjoyment. Beautiful moments were captured on camera and it was a special memory.

Thanks especially to Simona Obialero for organizing the event, and also a salute to Michela, Susanna, Chen, Serena and Maria for such team work.
