Weekend Tuition Program at Fengxian

On 23rd March, the new Tuition Program started with the help of six university students from Shanghai Hua Shi University.

Twenty migrant children enrolled and turned up for the session.  To kick off the program, the two social workers of You Dao explained the rules & regulations of attendance and the responsibility of the volunteers.  The children were divided into six different groups by class level and a volunteer was assigned to each group.  As this is new to the migrant students, they treasured the opportunity to ask for help and so they raised a lot of questions to overcome the difficulties that they encountered in school.  At the same time, all the volunteers were happily teaching, answering questions one by one.  The volunteers even brought along with them some exercise books for the students to work on.

All through the two hours, the students were very cooperative.  Some parents observed through the windows and appreciated our help.  The children especially thanked the volunteers and left with a smile when the program finished.
After the program, our social workers had a short meeting with the volunteers to review the process.  The volunteers felt great being able to help those who were willing to learn. They hope that many more can benefit through their efforts.
