Stanford Club Activity Day

The every increasing summer heat and hot weather cannot stop the children’s love of activities and learning from a group of enthusiastic volunteers.
On June 14, the You Dao Qingpu Activity Center welcomed 20 volunteers from the Stanford Club and their families.
During the nearly half-hour event, there was constant laughter and hilarious moments for the children.
During the Fashion Show Event, the Volunteers and Children had just 30 minutes of preparation time to perfectly bring together teamwork, imagination, and skill to successful complete their task.  Using some simple rolls of colored paper, newspapers, and some colors strips the children were able to produce pirate outfits, a superman outfit, and more. When the little models displayed their outfits on the simple stage, everyone involved in the contest was very excited.
If the model fashion show was a demonstration of creativity, then the blind folded face painting activity was a breaking barriers activity.  All members of the group were lined up three meters from the blackboard, blind folded, and then one by one went up to the blackboard and asked to paint a specific facial feature or style of hair.  When the final paintings were revealed to the group there were paintings that had the ear where the nose should be and paintings with hair where the beard should be.  The final paintings resembled an alien face and caused everyone to laugh out loud at their creations.
The last activity was a happy communication game, which tested individual skills, team communication skills, and even the ability to understand others. It was not an easy game for the newly established groups. They had to draw out different objects like the Pearl Tower, Kangaroos, a Microwave, etc. and have the other group guess the correct word. Two groups had very good communication and quickly got the right answers.  Others helped another group that needed extra time to get the right answers.  The activity was a valuable experience in teamwork and communication.
Afterwards, during the tea and awards ceremony, everyone student who participated in the competition won school supplies.  The tea and awards ceremony allowed us to witness the growth and humility of the children, with some of the children taking it on themselves to bring food and water to the volunteers. The classroom was filled with the love and gratitude of the children.
Perhaps our little bit of support and output can help the children accomplish their future bit by bit.
Let us work together to help support the future of the world – Children Grow Up and Work Hard!
