On May 29, 2016, 22 volunteers from Ingredion traveled to the Qingpu Boke Kindergartens to hold a family day for seven migrant families and their children who receive scholarships. This is the 3rd time Ingredion and its employees have volunteered to help support family days with You Dao.
Despite the rain, volunteers arrived at the kindergarten at 9:30 in the morning. The group began the day by chatting with the families and getting to know one another. The activities began at 10:00am as the rain started to stop. The first game was “You throw, I catch” and the volunteers and children played it as a warm up activity.
Inside the classroom, the volunteers taught the children arts and crafts with ultra-light clay. The children were given the freedom to design whatever type of artwork they wanted. A lot of different designs were created.
Afterwards, the group played a variety of different games, including Pictionary, Guess the Song, and even a mini talent show for the children and their families also performed. Everyone was laughing and had a great time.
After all of the games, the volunteers gave each child a gift. The children thanked the volunteers by giving them thank you letters. The volunteers, the family, and the children were full of happiness.
