You Dao Fundraising Dinner

Project(s):
Beiyaowan Nursery

 On 7th April we had a marvelous evening at the Mr Willis Restaurant. This was a fund-raising event for scholarships for disadvantaged migrant children who otherwise might not be able to go to school.

Craig Willis who runs the restaurant and after whom the restaurant is named, wants on a couple of occasions in a year, to run such an event as a way to help struggling migrant workers and their families. He most generously organized a meal of mammoth proportions that would have been appreciated by the most discerning palate. All the proceeds from the dinner go to the scholarships. Craig was able to marshal the support of suppliers for his restaurant. and their generous contribution is appreciated. You Dao acknowledges the wonderful efforts of Craig, his staff, colleagues and friends.

Warren Kinne,the Chairman of You Dao, gave a brief background to the charity and then Puisana Chau, the new Executive Director  spoke passionately about a specific project of You Dao. Craig Willis also explained why he was so generously involved in a partnership for migrant families.

A string-quartet from the Conservatorium of Music played a couple of segments for the group of 72 diners and supporters. Even though everyone towards the end of the evening thought that they couldn’t eat another mouthful of Mr Willis’ delicious food – who could resist: chocolate velvet; Pavlova, berry compote, whipped cream; nougatine glace with orange, grapefruit & date salad; warm toffee banana pudding; madeleines & Turkish delight.
