On June 18th, 2016, You Dao and the Stanford University Alumni Association Shanghai branch joined together to hold a family day for scholarship children at the Paradise Kindergarten in Jiading district. 12 volunteers from the Stanford University Alumni Association participated in the event.
This is the first time the Paradise Kindergarten has hosted such a family day and everyone was very excited. The volunteers arrived at the site before 9am to work with the teachers to prepare for the activities.
The first activity was arts and crafts using clay. Some of the children worked by themselves and others worked with their family and friends to make artwork out of clay. All of the children were very happy with their creations and proudly showed them off to the rest of the group.
Despite the hot weather, the family games outside were the most popular activity. The children ran back and forth in a relay as the crowds cheered them on. It was a very fun and exciting atmosphere.
After the outdoor games, everyone took a break and enjoyed some snacks and drinks. The Stanford University Alumni Association gave each child a small gift. The children were very thankful.
