Kitchen Utensils for poor families

On the 13th March 2013 at Cang Chang Elementary School in Malu, representatives of You Dao, Philips and the School itself presented 15 families with some new kitchen utensils - a rice cooker and an electric jug. This program is a part of an ongoing partnership between You Dao and Philips in the Malu District. You Dao is helping facilitate Philips in its CSR outreach in that area.

送温暖活动

2013年3月13日下午,在马陆仓场小学多功能教室,举行简单而隆重的“飞利浦向民工家庭送温暖”活动仪式。忧道、飞利浦和学校代表与15名学生的家庭共同出席了活动。仪式上向15个家庭各赠送电饭煲和电水壶一个,并祝愿大家的生活质量逐渐提高。仪式后,忧道和飞利浦的代表一起走访了学生家庭。

耀中国际学校的女童子军为外来务工子女送礼物

2013年3月9日、10日两个周末,来自Yew chung international school上海耀中国际学校的26个孩子,在老师和家长的带领下,分批来到北姚湾活动中心参与活动。他们来自美国、日本、英国以及台湾地区,年龄7~13岁。他们带来很多文具、玩具和体育器械,送给中心作平时活动用。并拿出自己心爱的玩具,现场送给北姚湾的孩子们。很多妈妈还带来自制的甜点,请大家分享。共有80个附近的孩子参加活动。上海大学志愿者10人。

YCIS Girl Scouts and Brownies

On Saturday March 9th and Sunday March 10th, Yew Chung Girl Scouts visited Beiyaowan to take part in activities with the migrant children. This activity was part of a Girl Scouts program focused on teaching the girls about community awareness and helping others. Girl Scouts teache children core values on how to be a better person, how to make a difference in the community, and the environment. It also teaches children the skills needed to become a leader. As part of the program, the girls are required to bake their own cookies, sell them to the community for 10 RMB a bag. Each bag contains 3 cookies. The Girl Scouts then used the money to buy arts and crafts and sports supplies for the Beiyaowan Migrant Center. In addition,the girls also conducted a toy drive. Some of the toys were distributed when the girls visited and some of the toys will be used at the end of the year Christmas party.

On Saturday, girls from the Brownie troop number 5872 and Junior troop number 5873 brought presents and snacks to share with the children.The girl scouts, age 7 to 11, played basketball, skipped with a rope, and played tag in the warm spring weather. After several hours of activities, the children gathered together and had group introductions. The girl scouts then handed out cookies and gifts to the children. The girl scouts also provided many arts and craft supplies which will be used at future events.

On Sunday, girl scouts from Daisy troop number 5871 came for a second round of activities. The girls, age 5 – 7, had to endure cooler weather, but still had a great afternoon filled with arts and crafts, skipping with the rope, and freeze tag. After several hours, the girl scouts and parent volunteers handed out homemade cookies and fruit plates. More than 80 migrant children patiently waited in line to get a taste of the delicious homemade desserts.

Many of the children became good friends and promised to keep in touch and comeback to visit later in the year.

MSD and You Dao partnership for women’s health

Yesterday, 9th March 2013 MSD (Merck) and You Dao Foundation were in partnership for a morning at Qi Cai Tong Nian Kindergarten, Qing Cun Village in Fengxian about women’s health issues. About 60 women and 50 children participated in the event. In one room the women , Dr. Jing and Dr. Jane Wu had a discussion while the children played supervised games outside. When the meeting with the women was finished there were activities together such as a tug-of-war and eating of snacks .

“关爱农民工妇女健康”的讲座

2013年3月9日由MSD和忧道基金会合作的“关爱农民工妇女健康”的讲座活动在奉贤青村镇七彩童年幼儿园举行,此次活动共有60个妇女和50个孩子参加,妇女在健康讲座中积极参与经医生和吴医生互动,孩子们在各区域玩的不亦乐乎。讲座结束后,孩子们给所有妇女和医生献花。家长和孩子还参加了亲子游戏和拔河比赛,最后忧道基金会给每位妇女和孩子准备了精美的礼物和点心。

Mr Willis 筹款晚宴

2013年3月3日Mr. Willis餐厅第六次举行筹款晚宴,共有96名资助者参加。全部善款作为外来务工子女的助学金。

Sixth Mr Willis Dinner

Last night the Mr Willis Restaurant again hosted a dinner for the You Dao Foundation. This is the sixth such dinner. The restaurant was filled 96 enthusiastic supporters. Once again Craig and his staff put on a delicious meal. The Bethunes, an a cappella group of five men, sang a selection of tunes in perfect harmony. All the proceeds of the evening went to the foundation. About ten people also contributed scholarships for poor migrant children.
