The You Dao – ‘Mr Willis” fund-raising dinner marks another step in the partnering of You Dao with Shanghai businesses. ‘Mr Willis’ is an innovative and very lively restaurant in downtown Shanghai. It has an emphasis on the integrity of the food, family conviviality and sharing. Australian chef, Mr Craig Willis, is sharing the success of the restaurant with You Dao in a gesture of recognition of the migrant workers of Shanghai. Some of these migrant workers were involved in building the restaurant and are now on the restaurant staff. He has donated the proceeds of the dinner to You Dao to provide scholarships for the children of Shanghai migrant workers. It is hoped that the dinner in April 2010 will be the first of a number of such events. The You Dao – ‘Mr Willis’ Dinner provides an opportunity for Shanghai people to make a direct contribution to the migrant workers and their children. We appreciate that such a donation can be made in the context of good food, conviviality and sharing. You Dao thanks Mr Willis for his generosity.
